Located in Comal County, Texas, Garden Ridge is a city within the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. This small city is situated about 19 miles northeast of San Antonio’s famous downtown area. As of 2010, the population of Garden Ridge was nearly 3,300, and the city consists of 8.1 square miles of total area. Students in Garden Ridge are served by the area Comal Independent School District, and they will attend Garden Ridge Elementary, Canyon Middle, and Canyon High School.
Although Garden Ridge is a small city, it is home to a variety of unique attractions. Bat Conservation International’s Bracket Bat Cave is located here, as are the Natural Bridge Caverns. The Cypress Valley Canopy Tours are also located in this community. If those attractions don’t provide enough outdoor recreation, Paul Davis Park can be a great place to spend an afternoon. Specialty stores like Lone Star Woodcraft can also be found in the city limits.
The weather of Garden Ridge is indicative of a humid subtropical climate. This means that the summers will be quite hot and humid. In July and August, high temperatures will typically reach the upper 90s, but with extremely high humidity levels, conditions usually feel much warmer than that.
